Mirva Palmunen is a fine art photographer and an art teacher
based in Vaasa in Finland.
She belongs to Union of Finnish art association, Artists’ Association of Finland, Photographic Artists Association among other things. She has studied different kind of art forms, like visual arts, dancing, singing etc. In Sweden she studied visual arts to become an art teacher and at the same time she studied photography separately as it was her main interest. Her first bigger solo exhibition was in Montreal in Canada.
Her main themes in her art works are inner peace and happiness. She explored how people can train their mind to be more at the present moment and experience the serenity it gives, increasing the quality of life.
In the world as it is today people have to react ever faster and adapt to increasing amounts of pictures, texts, and sounds. How can we find and experience peace of mind? This is what she studies in her art, often combining photography with other art forms like painting, sculpture, sound and other things, like pieces of nature, bringing multidimensionality to her work.
